About The Robinsons Retirement Ranch

The Robinsons Retirement Ranch Family

The Farm

Our Love for Horses

The Family

Over 30 years ago, our Dad, Steve, and Grandma, Christine, bought our now 60+ acre farm, tucked away in a quiet corner of Bradford, West Yorkshire.

From the beginning, Cockleshaw Beck Farm has been a true family-run working farm. It has been home to cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry as well as working the land for hay and straw. Our farm has been a place filled with care, hard work, and togetherness.

The Family

We have a large and loving family, with aunts, uncles, cousins, and more all living close by. The farm has been a place that brought us all together and created some of our fondest childhood memories.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such a close-knit support system. Everyone pitches in when needed, and the farm has always been a place full of love, laughter, hard work, (the occasional family disagreements), and generations of shared stories.

Our Love for Horses

Our love for horses started with Dad. He had horses for most of his life, even riding his first pony, Spot, to school. When we were young, he passed that love on to us by buying us our first ponies to share, Penny and Clipper, two Shetlands who fully lived up to their cheeky reputation.

Then came Norris, our gentle giant Clydesdale, and Saga and Hercules, our two Dartmoor ponies. Some days they were as calm and dependable as could be, and other days... they were absolute mischief! But every one of them gave us memories we’ll never forget, and helped shape the stories of our childhood.

The New Generation

Over the past few years, we’ve sadly said goodbye to both our beloved Grandma and our Dad, the heart and foundation of our farm. In their memory and with their values in mind, we’ve begun a new chapter at Cockleshaw Beck Farm, transforming it from a traditional working livestock farm into a dedicated retirement yard for horses and ponies.

This new direction feels like the right path. With three generations of Robinson women all sharing a passion for horses. We are ready to open our hearts and home to your beloved horses and ponies.

The Plan

The Retirement Ranch

The New Generation

We’re currently in the process of creating a peaceful, purpose-built retirement haven. The transformation is well underway, from revamping old cattle and lambing sheds into bright, spacious stables, to installing warm wash bays, dry lots, and secure new fencing.

It’s a big project with lots still to come, but every step is being taken with care and thought. Our aim is simple: to create a calm, safe, and happy environment where horses can enjoy a gentle, well-deserved retirement.

While our new retirement stables are in development, with more improvements being planned every day, we already have acres of beautiful pasture ready and waiting. Horses in our care benefit from natural turnout, fresh air, and the daily attention of the experienced Robinson girls, who know just how to give them the love, patience, and routine they need.

Whether you’re looking for a long-term retirement home, or a peaceful place for your pregnant mare to foal, your horse will be in safe, knowledgeable hands with us.
